Plan for the next fight
Recall one recurring problem from your last encounter before choosing a technique. An ability you will use in the next three fights can be more valuable early on than a powerful move you rarely attempt. These are editorial selection criteria for the base campaign.
Read the prerequisites and input first. Before planning around a locked weapon technique, check that you have acquired its weapon.

Three defensive candidates
Roll adds evasive distance. Perfect Dodge turns precise evasion into a counter, while Perfect Parry rewards a well-timed defense with a counterattack.
If your reactions are inconsistent, consider the option that gives you room first. If you already read attack patterns reliably, a counter may suit you better. This is not a requirement to buy all three in a fixed order: the useful choice depends on what you can already execute.

Branch toward actions you actually use
Chain-assassination options suit a stealth approach; Concentration slows time while aiming. Weapon-specific techniques become relevant after acquiring that weapon.
If you rarely reach a safe assassination opportunity, improving your approach may matter more than buying follow-up kills. Likewise, a ranged skill may feel wasted if you never stop to aim. Judge a purchase by the behaviour it enables in your own route, not its position on somebody else’s ranking.

Practise one new action at a time
After learning several abilities, select only one as the focus of your next small fight. Winning quickly and learning a new input are different goals. Attempt the action and identify why it worked or failed.
Distinguish forgetting the input from failing to find an opening. The second problem usually calls for better observation, not another technique purchase. Keep the rest of your approach familiar while testing the new action.
Before choosing at an altar
Answer these questions to reduce the chance of prioritising a technique you will not use.
- Which enemy or recurring mistake is this meant to address?
- Do you understand its prerequisites and controls?
- Where will you test it in a short encounter?
- Does your current equipment encourage the same action?
