Dragonfly archery: build a safer opening shot · Ghost of Yōtei

Where Dragonfly Armor comes from, how its timed shot works, and when to switch from a bow to melee.

Unlock and trigger

Dragonfly Armor is awarded by Daijiro’s namesake side tale in Tokachi Range. Release a fully drawn arrow during the brief glint to empower it. Empowered shots replenish Concentration, and the armor also improves arrow reload speed.

Suggested setup: give yourself room to shoot

This is an editorial setup suggestion. Start with Dragonfly Armor and the bow you already use. If owned, Mother’s Charm can support arrow damage; spend remaining slots on the Concentration time or survivability you actually lack. You do not need every desirable charm before trying the setup.

A strong arrow does little for a plan interrupted by an incoming attack. Choose a clear shooting position with a sideways escape route before chasing more damage.

A short practice sequence

Separate timing practice from rapid shooting. Changing one part of your approach at a time makes mistakes easier to identify.

  • Check that no nearby melee enemy can interrupt you, then choose a first target.
  • While the target is distant, learn the visual rhythm of the draw and glint.
  • If you miss the timing, reposition instead of remaining exposed to force another shot.
  • Switch to melee when enemies close the gap. Keeping the bow out is a choice, not an obligation.

When another setup is better

Use this loadout to reduce the opposition before it reaches you. Its value falls in cramped approaches with several enemies rushing in, or encounters where the bow is unavailable. Keep a separate melee setup ready.

If you waste arrows on a target behind cover, more damage may not fix the problem. Change your angle or move first, then decide whether an equipment upgrade is needed.

Check before spending materials

After exploring an area, review arrows remaining, hits taken while aiming, and occasions when you had to abandon the bow. Spare arrows but repeated damage point toward positioning and survival. Safe shots that still take too long suggest a clearer case for improving equipment.

This recommendation covers the base campaign. It is not a highest-damage ranking or a guarantee of flawless play on a particular difficulty.
