Bamboo strikes: Spirit growth and easier inputs · Ghost of Yōtei

Find the setting that removes time pressure, understand Spirit milestones, and work through a missing-strike checklist.

Know what grows

The 15 bamboo strikes contribute to Spirit growth. Later increases require more completed strikes, so finishing one without immediately gaining another visible circle is not by itself evidence of a bug.

Remove the speed barrier

In accessibility options, set Rapid Button Presses to Simplified to remove the timing pressure from bamboo strikes. This is separate from the option that simplifies holding buttons.

If rushing makes you mix up the sequence, use this setting to separate accuracy from speed. Complete a clean sequence first, then decide whether you want to practise with the default setting. You do not need to treat the minigame as a reason to change your entire combat difficulty.

Read the sequence in smaller groups

A typical strike progresses through three, five, and seven inputs. Our suggested method is to identify repeated groups and the final one or two buttons, instead of trying to memorize an undivided seven-button string.

When you fail repeatedly at the same point, classify the problem: forgotten order, wrong button, or insufficient time. Each needs a different adjustment. Slowing down helps accuracy; grouping helps memory; the accessibility setting deals directly with the speed requirement.

What to check at 14 out of 15

Review locations obscured by larger map icons and training completed during the story. Your home, the dual-katana training sequence, and the area by Huranui’s Rest Inn in Tokachi are useful checks.

Compare the game’s activity count with your website checklist separately. This website records your own ticks; it does not read the save file. Hide every other marker category and review one region at a time instead of scanning a crowded map.

Turn extra capacity into a safer fight

After an increase, pay attention to how much Spirit you normally leave available. A larger reserve does little for recovery if you immediately spend it all on offense. Our recommendation is to practise keeping a margin in difficult fights, then spend more aggressively once you recognize reliable openings.

Keep the collection goal small: one or two nearby strikes before another boss attempt. That alternates a useful upgrade with practice, rather than postponing the fight for a long sweep of the world.
