Unlocking the duel
First progress through Takezo the Unrivaled, facing the five students at the Dueling Trees and Takezo on the coast. The follow-up tale, The Five Teachings, takes you to the summit of Mount Yotei.
Requirements at the summit
Equip all five Takezo charms and wait at the summit campfire to begin the duel. If you need more charm slots, collect more charms through Fox Dens, shrines, and similar activities.
Prepare your combat loadout
Once you have met the starting conditions, you can switch back to combat charms. Prioritize support for health, healing, and parrying, and prepare for the cold.
Read the follow-up attack
Do not attack immediately after dodging one red-flash attack. Watch for the follow-up disarming attack, then punish the opening with a short counter. His regular attack strings offer a chance to practice parry timing.
Cold and tool management
When the blizzard begins, your available maximum health drops. Space out smoke bombs and quick-use tools to create healing windows or openings later in the fight.
